T: We often go to the bus station, the railway station or the airport to meet someone. When鷖eeing him or her coming, what can you say?

T:Very good. Today we're going to learn Lesson 9 (Bb: Lesson 9), a dialogue between Mr Lee and Dr Yang. Mr Lee is asked to meet Dr Yang at the airport.

What does he do for Dr Yang?

(Teacher plays the video for Ss. After the ideo is over, teacher asks one student to answer the question. )

T: Who can answer the question? Li Ping, please.

S1:Mr Lee meets Dr Yang at the airport. He helps Dr Yang carries the boxes and takes him to the hotel.

T:That's right. Now open your books at Page 13. Look at the dialogue and lisen to the tape. Pay attention to your stress and intonation.

T: Stop, please. In this dialogue there're some language points. I'll explain them to you. Look at the screen.

2.I can manage it myself.我自己能扛得動(dòng)。

manage意思是“設(shè)法做到”,與can/could連用,后接動(dòng)詞不定式。

如:The box was heavy but he managed to carry it.

那個(gè)箱子太沉了,但他(還是)設(shè)法搬走了。

比較manage to do與try to do:前者表示“成功地做成了某事(尤指困難的事)”,后者意思是“努力或設(shè)法做某事”,但不一定成功。

(2) make oneself understood意思是“讓別人明白自己的意思(聽(tīng)懂自己的話)”。賓補(bǔ)用過(guò)去分詞。還有make oneself heard/ known。如:He spoke in a loud voice in order to make himself heard.他大聲地說(shuō)以便讓別人聽(tīng)到他的話。make后的賓補(bǔ)還可用形容詞、名詞和動(dòng)詞原形。如:

We are working hard to make our country more beautiful.

4.accept…as/ be accepted as 認(rèn)為……是……, accept 在此是“接受”、“同意”解;as 后面接名詞或v-ing形式。I can’t accept you as my assistant.

Waving one’s arms can be accepted as crying for help.

take … to be/as指主觀上 “ 把…… 認(rèn)作為……”. 不管對(duì)

We all take our teacher to be/as our good friend.

You must take English to be /as one of the main subjects you have to learn well.

You can't take a thief to be an honest man.你不能把小偷當(dāng)作老實(shí)人。另外,mistake...for...是“錯(cuò)把……當(dāng)作……”的意思。如:鶥ut people still mistake us for each other.但是人們?nèi)匀话盐覀儌z弄混。

3).regard...a(chǎn)s...也用得很廣泛,在一般情況下可以與consider...a(chǎn)s...換用;有時(shí)可以表示根據(jù)外表所得出的結(jié)論,有時(shí)所表示的只是個(gè)人的或一種偏袒的意見(jiàn)。如:

4).look upon/on...a(chǎn)s...含義與regard...a(chǎn)s...相同,但沒(méi)有regard...a(chǎn)s...用得多。如:

5).see...a(chǎn)s...表示根據(jù)個(gè)人的觀察和體會(huì)所得出的結(jié)論,常可與regard...a(chǎn)s...替換。如:鶰arxism sees all matters as constantly changing.馬克思主義把一切物質(zhì)都看成是經(jīng)常變化的。6).view...a(chǎn)s...可與see...a(chǎn)s...換用,多用于正式語(yǔ)體。如:

8).treat...a(chǎn)s...指在某種認(rèn)識(shí)基礎(chǔ)上處理或?qū)Υ澄铮攸c(diǎn)在行動(dòng)。一般只見(jiàn)于正式語(yǔ)體中。如:I decided to treat the whole matter as a great joke.

9).keep...a(chǎn)s...含有“保留”的意思,一般只用于正式文體中。如:

They set up a state of their own, where they would be free to keep Negroes as slaves.

10).have...a(chǎn)s...常見(jiàn)于非正式文體中。如:

Neither beasts nor birds would have the bat as their friend.
