How I learned to learn English
Last year my English class was difficult for me. First of all（1）, it wasn’t easy for me to understand the teacher when she talked to the class. （1）“first of all”意為“首先，第一”，above all也有“首先”的意思，但兩者有區(qū)別。first of all是從事物的排列順序上說的，“首先”、“第一”，而above all則是從事物重要性上說的“首先”，因此，也可譯為“最重要的是”，“特別是”，“尤其是”等等。
eg: First of all, you must be frank. 首先，你必須坦率。

但是最重要的是，你趕快告訴我，我必須做什么。
（2）“to begin with”是慣用語，意思是“首先、第一”，通常置于句首，用以敘述理由。
eg: I can’t come. To begin with, I don’t feel well. Besides, I don’t have much money.
我不能來，第一是因為身體不舒適，其次我也沒有太多錢。
（3）later on 是慣用法，意思是“過后，后來”
eg: He found his lost bike later on.
后來他找到了他丟的自行車。

（4）realize是動詞，意思是“領(lǐng)悟到…”，“了解到…”，其后常跟賓語從句。

（5）be afraid to do sth. 意為“由于害怕而不敢做”

Old phone, true friend
A few weeks ago I met an old friend for lunch. While we were on our way to the restaurant, my mobile phone rang. 句中“l(fā)et sb. do sth.”讓某人做某事，let后的賓語補足語要用省略to的動詞不定式，例如：
She let her child play in the park.
