1． Many young people end up in a job to which they are not suited.
許多年輕人最后還是干了一件不適合他們的工作。
（1）end up 最后（做某事），終于（成為……）這個(gè)短語(yǔ)通常含有“最終結(jié)局不好”的意思。例：
He ended up (as ) the officer of that company. 他最終成為那家公司的職員。
The enemy ended up in defeat.敵人最終失敗了。
（2）be suited to + n. (-ing 形式) 適合，適宜于。
His speech is suited to audience.他演講的內(nèi)容合符合聽(tīng)眾的口味。
He is suited to (for) teaching.他適合教書(shū)。
2． First, it is important to recognize what kind of person you are and which special qualities make you different from everyone else.
首先，重要的是你得認(rèn)識(shí)自己是什么樣的人，你具備怎樣的特殊品質(zhì)，使你不同于其他任何人。
（1）what kind of 是對(duì)表示性質(zhì)、特征的人或事 提問(wèn)的句式。
- What kind of person are you?

what kind of 結(jié)構(gòu)中其名詞通常不用冠詞，也不用復(fù)數(shù)。
（2）else做為代詞，只能用作后置定語(yǔ)，常用來(lái)修飾不定代詞、疑問(wèn)代詞或疑問(wèn)副詞。
Who else asked for me this morning? 今天上午還有誰(shuí)找過(guò)我？
Nobody else in our class is cleverer than he. 在我們班上沒(méi)有其他人比他聰明。
Where else have you ever been to ? 你還去過(guò)什么地方？
3． Think of time when you were happiest. What were you doing?
想一想你過(guò)去什么時(shí)候最快活。當(dāng)時(shí)你在干什么？
該句中做表語(yǔ)的happiest前面沒(méi)有冠詞the 。
通常形容詞最高級(jí)前要加定冠詞。但當(dāng)最高級(jí)是主語(yǔ)自身比較（而沒(méi)有與其他的人或物相比較），最高級(jí)前通常不用冠詞。例：
I’m busiest in the morning. 我早上最忙。
The stars are brightest when there is no moon. 當(dāng)沒(méi)有月光時(shí)星星最亮。
4． Note that it is not enough to say to yourself, “I enjoy working with people.”
注意：如果你回答“我喜歡同工人們一起工作”，這是不夠的。
Note 在此是動(dòng)詞，意思是“注意，注目，留意到”。
Note that…作為句型是“注意……”。

5． It sounds as though you have plenty of both of these already.

It sounds as though /if…“聽(tīng)起來(lái)似乎……”。
as though引導(dǎo)的是表語(yǔ)從句。常用于類(lèi)似結(jié)構(gòu)的還有：seem/look/feel+as if (though)。
注意：appear通常不能接as if 從句。
It seems as if he has passed the test. 他看起來(lái)好象通過(guò)了這次測(cè)試。
He feels as if he is tired.他覺(jué)得好象累了。
6． You can point out that Florence Nightingale opened up nursing and that Madame Curie opened up science to women.
你可以指出，弗洛倫斯.南丁格爾開(kāi)創(chuàng)了護(hù)理工作，居里夫人為婦女學(xué)理科開(kāi)辟了道路。
（1）該句point out 之后接了兩個(gè)賓語(yǔ)從句，由and連接，要特別指出第二個(gè)that 絕不能省掉，省掉后邏輯關(guān)系不清。
（2）open up 意思是“開(kāi)辟”，“開(kāi)拓”，如：
This new means has opened up the forbidden zone of this field. 這新方法打開(kāi)了這個(gè)領(lǐng)域的禁區(qū)。
A few peasants decided to open up the wasteland. 幾個(gè)農(nóng)民決定開(kāi)發(fā)這塊荒地。

Before Johann Guttenburg developed the printing press in 1437, news traveled by word of mouth. This meant that information was slow to reach the public and that details changed as news spread from one person to the next. Printed matter, such as newspapers, made it possible for information to be gathered in a central office and for news to be written more accurately(準(zhǔn)確). In 1844 Samuel Morse made a system of sending coded messages through electric wires perfect, founding an early form of long-distance communication.
