歸納：動詞加-ing形式和動詞加-ed形式的形容詞都可以在句中作定語和表語。v.-ed形式通常表示主語所處的狀態或感受（主要描繪人或事處于的一種狀態），而v.-ing形式多表示主語所具有的特征（主要描繪人或事）。

三．課文難點解析
1.I live in Shijiazhuang,a city not far from Beijing.我住在石家莊，一個離北京不遠的城市。
解析：a city not far from Beijing是Shijiazhuang的同位語，其中not far from Beijing是形容詞短語作定語，相當于定語從句which is not far from Beijing。Eg.The market isn’t far from here.It’s only half an hour’s bicycle ride.市場離這里不遠，騎自行車半個小時就到了。
far from離……遠；一點也不；遠非(far不與具體的數字連用) I’m far from happy today.今天我一點兒也不高興 away from在(某距離)處
by far...……得多，遠未 Eg. Your father is more understanding than mine by far.你父親遠比我父親更明白事理.
as far as遠至；到……程度 Eg. As far as I know，he is an honest man. 據我所知，他是個誠實的人。
so far到目前為止(與完成時連用)I haven’t finished my work so far.到目前為止，我還未干完活。

二．課文難點分析
1.We’re using a new textbook and Ms.Shen’s method of teaching is nothing like that of the teachers at my Junior High school.我們使用的是一套新課本，沈老師的(教學)方法一點也不像我在初中時的老師們的教學方法。

Many new methods of building have been applied to make the houses more modern.

with this method =by this means=in this way= approach to用這種方法（重點記住介詞搭配）
這三個搭配中method和way是可數名詞，復數形式是在其后加s；而means則單復數同形。
method，manner，way
(1)method“方法”，指合乎邏輯或系統的方法。 the method of teaching教學方法
(2)manner“方法；樣式”，意義極廣泛，但往往特指某人具有的東西。one’s manner of walking某人的走路姿態
(3)way“方法”，最普通的用語。an easy way一種簡便的方法
2．本句中的that代替上文中的method，以避免重復。
The weather in Beijing is much cooler than that in Nanjing.
北京的天氣比南京的天氣涼爽的多。
辨析：it，one，ones，the one，the ones，that
(1)it用來指代上文提到的具體的人或物，可以作主語或賓語。
I bought a pen and it cost me 10 dollars. 我買了一支鋼筆，花了我10美元。
(2)one用來代替前面出現的單數名詞，是泛指概念，相當于“a/an＋單數名詞”。
I’ve lost my pen.I’m going to buy a new one tomorrow.我把鋼筆丟了。我打算明天買一支新的。
(3)ones用來代替前面出現的復數名詞，也是泛指概念。
He likes American novels，especially twenty century ones.他喜歡美國小說，尤其是20世紀的小說。
(4)the one用來代替前面特指的單數名詞，有時可用that代替(尤其在有后置定語的情況下)。
I like the book，the one which lies on the left. 我喜歡那本書，左邊的那本。
(5)the ones用來代替前面特指的復數名詞，有時可用those代替(尤其在有后置定語的情
況下)。
I want to buy some apples，the ones that look fresh.我想買些蘋果，看起來很新鮮的那些。
(6)that用來代替前面出現的特指的單數可數名詞或不可數名詞，相當于“the＋單數可數名詞/不可數名詞”。但是that一般不指代人，不可作形式主語或形式賓語。

該句式屬于否定轉移。在英語中，如果把“I think(believe...)＋賓語從句”結構改成否定句，習慣上把否定結構從賓語從句移至主句，我們把這種現象稱為“否定轉移”。
I don’t think he will come tomorrow.我想他明天不會來。
用在這種句型中的動詞主要有：think，believe，expect，suppose，imagine等且主語往往是I。(hope除外)。但應注意：(1)不能把所有可否定轉移動詞的否定句都理解為否定賓語從句。有時候，否定詞not就是否定主句(即否定主句的謂語動詞)的，這要根據句意或語境而定。Eg.We didn’t think we’d been there so late.(McArthur)我們沒有料到我們會來得這么晚。
(2)當主句中含有狀語或含有情態動詞時，可否定轉移的動詞就不再發生轉移了。
Eg.I didn’t ever suppose they were happy.我從來也沒有認為他們是幸福的。
(3)在構成反意疑問句時，當句子的主語為第一人稱，后面的反意疑問句根據從句而定；若為第一人稱以外的人稱，則隨主句而定。

一．一般現在時的用法
（1）表示現在經常或反復發生的動作或存在的狀態，常和often, always, usually, sometimes, every day, once a week 等時間狀語連用。
e.g.He takes a walk after supper every day.
My mother works at the same company as my father.
（2）表示主語的特征、性格、能力等。
e.g. Mr. Smith hates fish and never eats any.
（3）表示客觀事實或普遍真理。
e.g. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
（4）表示安排或計劃好的將來發生的動作。
e.g. The plane takes off at 10 a. m.
（5）在時間或條件狀語從句中表示將來的動作。
e.g. I can’t leave unless my boss agrees.
（6）代替過去時表示某些文學作品的情節描述，或用來引述書刊材料。
e.g. The little boy goes up to the policeman and says , “There’s a car accident over there.”
二．現在進行時的四種用法：
（1）表示正在進行或發生的動作。
e.g.It’s raining hard outside now.

（2）表示現階段正在進行，而此時未必正在進行或發生的動作。
e.g.These days they are working hard to finish the task in time.
We are doing an experiment this week.
（3）某些動詞的現在進行時，如：go, come, leave, start, arrive, return, sleep, stay, do, have 等也可表示一個最近按計劃或安排要進行的動作。
e.g.Christmas is coming.
We are leaving on Friday.
We are having a holiday next week.
（4）頻度副詞always, constantly, continually和forever等和進行時連用時，給現在或過去的動作披上一層感情色彩，并不強調動作在進行。
①表示討厭、不滿，帶有埋怨情緒，指責某人一貫的行徑。如:

他老愛說大話。

②表示贊許、高興。帶夸獎口吻，稱贊對方的一貫表現。如：

本句為常用的口語句型，用來詢問對方的狀況。還可表達為：

How are you getting on/along?
do用作不及物動詞時也可譯為“行，夠，合適，可以”。

“so＋助動詞/情態動詞/系動詞＋主語”表示“……也是如此”，指上句中主語的情況也適合于第二句主語的情況。
She likes dogs，so does he.她喜歡狗，他也如此。
(1)so I do也是常見句型，主語和謂語不能倒裝，其中so意為“確實，的確”，用來回答別人，表示贊同前面所講的話，代替上文提過的形容詞、名詞、動詞等。
You say he is diligent，so he is.你說他很勤奮，他確實很勤奮。
