注意，這句話的英語表達(dá)方式與漢語不同。漢語主句中的動(dòng)詞“想”用肯定式，而賓語從句中的動(dòng)詞用否定式。英語則相反，主句動(dòng)詞(think, suppose等)用否定式，而賓語從句中的動(dòng)詞(如句中的 know)用肯定式。又如：
I don't think you are right. 我認(rèn)為你不對(duì)。
I don't think he will come. 我認(rèn)為他不會(huì)來。
I don't suppose I shall be back until 8 o'clock. 我想八點(diǎn)以前我回不來。
2.Years of hard work, very little food, only a small cold room to live in and never, never a moment’s rest . 數(shù)年的辛勞,食不果腹,屈居寒舍,從無休息
這是個(gè)單成分句,有四個(gè)名詞詞組組成. 這種句子是一個(gè)相對(duì)完整的語言單位,不需要增補(bǔ)其他的成分. 這句話可理解為:

句中的to live in是動(dòng)詞不定式短語作定語,修飾room. 動(dòng)詞不定式作定語有兩種情況.

②與所修飾的有主謂關(guān)系,即被修飾的詞是動(dòng)詞不定式的邏邏輯主語.

3. Can’t you just wear a flower instead?
是一個(gè)否定疑問句。否定疑問句可以表示對(duì)某事沒有做或沒有發(fā)生而感到吃驚。這種吃驚聽起來可能含有批評(píng)或責(zé)難的意思。又如：
Hasn't Albert telephoned yet? 阿伯特還沒有打電話來嗎？(說話人認(rèn)為阿伯特本該已經(jīng)打電話來了，但卻沒有打來，因此感到奇怪，并含有批評(píng)的口氣。)

1) try on作“試穿”、“試戴”解(to put on clothes, hats or shoes to test the fit, examine the appearance, etc. )。例如：

The tailor asked the girl to try on the new dress. 裁縫要那個(gè)女孩試穿一下那件新衣服。
2)“… it looked wonderful on you”中的介詞on作“附著在……上”解。例如：

1)句中 be worth作“值(多少錢)”、或“值得”解。 worth后常接名詞(代詞)或動(dòng)詞的-ing形式，組成“(be) + (well)+worth +sth. /doing sth. ”結(jié)構(gòu)。例如：
“How much is the necklace worth?”----“It's worth 300 U. S. dollars. ”“這條項(xiàng)鏈值多少錢？”--“ 300美元。”
The museum is worth a visit/visiting. 那個(gè)博物館很值得一看。
His suggestion is worth consideration/considering. 他的建議值得考慮。
Don't lock the door; it isn't worth it. 別鎖門了，不值得鎖。
2) at (the) most 作“最多”、“至多”解，它的反義詞組是 at (the) least(最少，至少)。例如：
